Account Deletion
Last updated: September 15, 2026. Changes: September 15, 2026, the offer record’s paragraph names everything it stops, the Buhata Student discount included, and says it stops each offer even when your account never took it. September 14, 2026, a deletion takes the restore points with it and support cannot bring a deleted account back, and the offer record covers the free trial and the free month as well as the referral program. September 6, 2026, named the Team Space ban hash and what stays inside a Team Space among what can stay behind. August 27, 2026, added the student token to the list of what can stay behind. August 10, 2026, deletion now removes your support history as well, and every earlier copy of your data. We also removed the hidden marker that used to survive a deletion so a returning account could be recognized: nothing of that kind is kept any more. Added what we keep about our own staff opening an account, and why. What a staff member typed about you is now deleted with the rest.
You can delete your Buhata account and everything in it, from inside the app, without asking anyone.
How to delete your account
- Open Buhata on any device where you are signed in.
- Go to Settings, then your account.
- Choose Delete account and confirm with the code emailed to you. A signed-in session alone cannot end an account; only the person holding the inbox can.
If you cannot reach the app, write to info@buhata.com from the address on the account and we will do it for you.
What happens then
Deletion happens straight away. Your account and its contents are removed from our live systems at the moment you confirm, and you are signed out on every device. There is no waiting period and nothing to cancel afterwards, which is why the confirmation code sent to your email address is what stands between a misclick and permanent loss.
Nothing is kept to bring it back. The dated copies behind Restore Points go in the same step, so support cannot restore a deleted account either. The only place the data still sits is inside the encrypted backups of our whole database that we keep so a failure on our side does not lose everybody's data. Nobody can sign in to anything in them, and they are never used to bring back one account.
What is deleted
Your account, your email address and name, the synced copy of everything in your apps, every earlier copy we held of it, your devices and sessions, your household memberships and any household you alone own, and your notification registrations.
Your support history goes too. Anything you wrote to us through the help bubble, and any email you sent us from the address on the account, is deleted with everything else.
We keep almost nothing that would let us recognize you if you came back, and the exceptions are listed here rather than hidden: an offer record, a Team Space ban and a student token. If you sign up again later you arrive as a new person to everything else.
What is not deleted, and why
If your account took the free trial or the free month, or took part in the referral program, one small record survives: a one-way hash of your email address, the reference your card issuer gives us where there was one, the date, and a short reason. It exists so that deleting an account and opening a new one cannot be used to take the same offer twice. It holds no name, no address and nothing you wrote, none of it can be turned back into your email or your card, and it is deleted automatically after two years. It stops a new account at the same email address from taking the free trial, the free month or the Buhata Student discount, or from earning or triggering a referral reward. Nobody can verify that address as a school address for the Buhata Student discount either. That holds for each of those offers, even one your account never took. Where the record keeps a card reference, that card can’t trigger a referral reward. You can still register, sign in, pay and use everything. If you think it should not apply to you, write to us and a person will look at it. An account that took neither the free trial nor the free month, and never took part in the referral program, leaves no such record.
If a Team Space banned you, a one-way hash of your email address stays with that Space until the ban's end date, so the ban holds if you register again and ask to join it. It identifies nobody, is never used for anything else, and expires with the ban. What you wrote inside a Team Space stays with the Space with your name and account removed, because a conversation with holes in it is not the record the other members kept; your email, your account, your devices, your plan and everything in any other Space go with you.
If you verified a student discount, one other record of the same shape stays: a one-way token of the school address, kept so the same address cannot claim the student offer twice. It holds no name and no email, it cannot be turned back into the address, and it has no effect on anything except that one discount. The Buhata Student page describes it.
Records we are required to keep for accounting and tax, which means the fact and amount of a payment, without the contents of your account. Anything another member of a shared household created for themselves stays theirs. Data on your own devices is yours to remove by uninstalling the app; deleting the account removes the server copy, not the phone in your hand.
We also keep a record of what our own staff did. If somebody here opened your account, that entry stays: who they were, when, what they did, and the account identifier. What they typed alongside it is deleted with everything else, because a note written about you is still about you. The entry exists so there is proof of who looked at what, which protects you rather than us, and erasing it would delete the evidence that you were looked at.
Cancelling a plan is not the same thing
Cancelling stops the billing and keeps your data. Deleting removes the data. If you want both, cancel first, then delete: see Subscription and Cancellation.
